In November, our MAGICIAN partner Lund University organised nine interactive workshops at the premises of 3 project partners in Italy and Turkey to adress human-centered design in a future shaped by automation and human-robot collaboration.
The workshops took place between the 12th – 20th November at Centro Ricerche Fiat (Orbassano & Melfi), Altınay Robot Teknolojileri (Istanbul) and TOFAŞ Türk Otomobil Fabrikası A.Ş. (Bursa) and brought together R&D experts, production line workers, managers, and HR representatives.
Guided by a human-centered approach, participants discussed various topics such as current skills and tasks that define meaningful work, opportunities and risks in evolving roles as well as automation as an enhancement to human capabilities. The insights will inform strategies for inclusive, ethical automation promoting engagement, gender equality, and organizational transformation.
Key Highlights:
- Robotic systems viewed as tools to enhance human capabilities, not replace them
- Current baseline skills: manual dexterity, attention to detail, technical knowledge
- Future pathways: robotic interaction skills, heteromated decision-making, continuous upskilling
- Hybrid roles combining human oversight with automation considered essential
What’s next?
Over the coming months, a comprehensive report, peer-reviewed publications, and actionable recommendations will be produced, alongside follow-up consultations to validate and refine the results.
