MAGICIAN represented at AI4IM 2026 in Amalfi

From 21-23 May 2026, the MAGICIAN project was represented at the IEEE Symposium on Artificial Intelligence for Instrumentation and Measurement (AI4IM 2026) in Amalfi, Italy. The event brought together researchers, industry experts, and innovators to discuss the latest advances in artificial intelligence and its applications in measurement, monitoring, sensing, estimation, and industrial systems.

Our project coordinator Daniele Fontanelli (University of Trento) contributed to the symposium as Technical Program Chair. He presented a research paper on uncertainty quantification for AI-based measurements, co-authored with Songqun Gao, Dario Petri, and Andrea Del Prete. The work addresses a key challenge in modern AI systems: understanding and quantifying uncertainty in AI-generated outputs to improve reliability, transparency, and trustworthiness.

The symposium also provided an opportunity to briefly introduce the MAGICIAN project to an international audience and to showcase its mission of developing AI-powered robotic solutions capable of detecting, classifying, and reworking manufacturing defects while keeping human operators at the centre of the production process.

AI4IM 2026 offered a valuable platform for exchanging ideas on the future of trustworthy and explainable AI, fostering new connections, and exploring how advanced measurement technologies can support the next generation of intelligent industrial systems. We thank the organisers and participants for an inspiring event and look forward to continuing the discussion on trustworthy AI within the research and innovation community.
