MAGICIAN Project launched in Trento

16-17th October 2023
Trento, Italy

MAGICIAN project kicked-off in Trento

At the kick-off meeting hosted by the project coordinator Università die Trento, the eleven project partners representing academia, business support organizations, digital solutions developers and industry came together to discuss the vision and steps towards achieving the ambitious objectives set by the MAGICIAN project.

MAGICIAN aims at developing and testing robotic solutions for the automatic identification and repair of aesthetic defects in manufacturing products. The developed solutions will make production process more energy- and resource-efficient and will likewise contribute to a safer working environment for human workers as robots can take on physically strenuous and hazardous tasks.

After a warm welcome from the project coordinator Daniele Fontanelli, the meeting focused on exploring MAGICIAN objectives and the contribution of each partner’s expertise towards achieving individual project steps as well as how these would eventually come together.

Partners had the opportunity to exchange in more depth on the development and testing of the robotic solutions, notably with respect to the automotive use case provided by project partner TOFAS, the details of the human-centered approach guiding the project, and the Open Calls which will extend the robotic solutions to other use cases.

The meeting set the motivation for the project steps ahead and strengthened collaboration, open exchange and discussion between project partners which will be continued throughout the project to achieve MAGICIAN’s vision of modular robotic solutions for autonomous defects detection and repair with a human-centered approach.
