In an online event titled “Industry Meets Social Sciences and Humanities”: Transforming Challenges into Opportunities” and organized by the NCP4Industry project, the IDEAL-IST project, Net4Society, and COSMOS4HE project, our project partner Günter Alce from Lund University presented MAGICIAN’s human-centred approach to highlight the way Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) are integrated into industrial research alongside other Horizon Europe projects.
Among others, Günter dived deeper into interview findings from a recent field study on ethical and social considerations in human-robot interaction, and pointed out the integration of these findings in the further development of MAGICIAN solutions, among others in terms of aligning automation with real-world workflows, and addressing user needs.
The event was dedicated to emphasizing the role of SSH in pushing forward industrial innovation with and shaping it to be sustainable, inclusive and ethical. In this way, it was also intended as a stimulus for interdisciplinary research between researchers, industry stakeholders, and policymakers.
Event speakers gave participants a well-rounded mix of policy insights, practical project examples , and best practices to take away, and triggered lively discussions and interest in the topic.
The event underlined our own commitment to shaping MAGICIAN robotic solutions in a way that integrates user needs in human-robot interaction.
