Integration week at Uni Trento – June 2025, Trento, Italy
In June 2025, technical MAGICIAN partners gathered for a focused technical integration week hosted by the University of Trento. Partners from the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), Centro Ricerche Fiat (CRF), Altınay Robot Teknolojileri, and the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) joined forces with the Trento team to put the MAGICIAN robot prototype through intensive testing.
The aim of the Integration week was to test and fine-tune robotic functions for defect detection and removal and to plan the next development steps. Among others, joint testing sessions focused on:
- Point-to-point motions and impedance control
- Grinding operations
- Visual and tactile sensing
- Human-aware motion planning
Testing the robot prototype was an important step to ensure that the different components of the MAGICIAN robotic system are working together seamlessly. Over the coming months, robotic solutions will be further refined and, in autumn, transferred to an industrial environment, in Altinay premises for further testing.
This collaborative effort highlights the project’s strong teamwork, combining expertise among others in robotics, sensing technologies, and industrial application.
